University Camp

BlancoThe University Camp is a wonderful and very unique resource that is managed by the Outdoor Recreation Program. The camp is located on the Blanco River near Wimberley, Texas. The University Camp is situated on a gated 126 acres and has two lodges, six campsites, four day-use areas, several miles of hiking/biking trails, and houses the GOAL Program Challenge Course.

Only Texas State students, faculty/staff, and alumni are eligible to make reservations at the SRC to use this resource.

Day-use, camping, and rustic lodging are available at this riverfront haven. The camp is off-set by the clear-water rock bottom Blanco River with a natural waterfall, as well as pecan tree covered bottomlands, small feeder creek canyons, and typical uplands terrain.

Activities

The 3.5 mile trail system courses throughout the property and provides many scenic and nature study opportunities. Mountain biking is a popular trail activity, and portions of the trail are suitable only for experienced riders. The trail is great for family hikes. The Camp also houses an Orienteering course suitable for beginners. Contact the Outdoor Center for more details.

Swimming, wading, snorkeling, and fishing are excellent in the clear pools above and below the falls. The "tube chute" down the gradual waterfall is very popular when water levels are appropriate. A softball field with a backstop and a grass volleyball court are available for use as well.
