The RockWall is open to all Student Recreation Center members. We provide all the gear you need—all you need to bring is yourself! Our RockWall is open to all experience levels, so even if you have never climbed before, make plans to stop by and check us out. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will show you all you need to know to make your first ascent.
 
Climbing Activities
The following activities are permitted at the RockWall Climbing Center:
Bouldering
Climbing a series of problems or routes that do not necessitate a rope or harness and generally do not exceed 12 ft excluding the final hold.
Requirements:
       • Orientation class
       • Use of crash pads
       • Spotter is strongly recommended

Top-rope Climbing
Characterized by an anchor point above the climber and belayer. The climber is connected to one end of the rope. The rope is threaded through the anchor above while the belayer is connected to the other end and anchored to the ground.
Requirements:
      • To climb: Staff belayer or belayer with Advanced Climber Card
      • To belay: Advanced Climber Card

Lead Climbing
A climber navigates the wall with the rope trailing below while clipping the rope to anchors as progress is made up the face or wall.

      • To climb: Staff Lead belayer or belayer with Lead Climber Card
      • To belay: Lead Climber Card

Rappelling
Techniques and skills used to control descent using a rope(s) with specialized friction devices.
Requirements:
