Specialized Trip Programming

What is Specialized Trip Programming???

This is a great opportunity for your group to take a break from the daily roller coaster of classes, work, stress, structure, and city noises and get away!!!

You pick the activity, the location, and the day........

WE DO THE REST.

(Or if you need assistance the staff is more than happy to make some suggestions to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.)

What are my choices for activities????

You can choose from the following:

  • ROCK CLIMBING (introduction classes/ 4 hrs.; day trips or weekend trips)
  • HIKING (1/2 day or full day trips)
  • WEEKEND BACKPACKING
  • KAYAKING (day or weekend trips)
  • CANOEING (day or weekend trips)
  • PRIVATE FULL MOON FLOATS (minimum number of 20)

What is the benefit of using a Specialized Trip??

This can be a great way to introduce people to each other in a setting away from the regular meeting setting, class environment, residence hall living environment, etc.. Groups can also work on leadership skills, self-esteem building, and most of all TAKE A BREAK in a RELAXED environment with educated and experienced staff on hand to assist the facilitation.

If you want TEAMBUILDING incorporated into the weekend or day trip, we can also do this by adding a G.O.A.L. program staff to the leader list. This way a group could combine teambuilding and problem solving skills with a selected activity such as kayaking or rock climbing.

What is provided on the Specialized Trips??

The Adventure Trip staff will work with each individual group to custom tailor the trip to fit your needs. The Adventure Trip Program (ATP) has the ability to provide most of the equipment for the trip, staff and transportation at a very reduced rate for the participants.

All trips include:

  • Knowledgeable and friendly guides!
  • Transportation (if needed)

All group gear and equipment including:

  • Harness
  • Helmet
  • Rock Shoes
  • Ropes/Hardware
  • Kayak/paddle
  • Rescue Equipment
  • Canoe/paddle
  • Raft/paddle
  • Backpack
  • Compass
  • Stoves
  • Tents or tarps
  • Cooking Equipment
  • Ground Cloths
  • Sleeping bags
  • Food - this can either be provided or the group can provide on their own for day and weekend trips.

What will this cost me???

Cost will be determined based on equipment rental fees, transportation costs, entrance fees, staff wages, and food. The price is also dependent upon the number of participants attending. In order to keep costs as low as possible, we ask for a minimum of 10 participants for each activity, with the exception of full moon floats (20 persons).

What is my next step????

The next step is to contact Anthony Deringer @ 512.245.8552 or by email at sd1287@txstate.edu. From there, we will be able to set up a meeting to best plan your getaway. Due to reservations and staffing, the ATP staff asks for a minimum of three weeks notice for any overnight trip and two weeks notice for day long trips. For most workshops, clinics, and Full Moon Floats - normally 1 week is sufficient.

Based upon your activity, location, group size, transportation and food selection - a price will be set for you.

How can I make payment:

Due to trip costs, payment must be completed prior to activity.

**If you would like to pay by an IDT (Inter-departmental transfer) then please complete the paperwork on your side of the house first then contact us with the IDT number. This normally takes around two-three days in-house before the number is authorized, so please have this done before contacting me.

**If you are collecting cash from individual members a check needs to be written to Texas State. Please place ATP Specialized Trip in the memo area. We prefer one check (you collect the money and give the full amount to us).

If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact any of the ATP Graduate Assistant Anthony Deringer at 235-8552 or sd1287@txstate.edu.

We look forward to working with you in the GREAT OUTDOORS!!!!!
