Professional Recreation is an organization on campus that is dedicated to individuals with interest in the field of Recreation. Through the organization we put on various events during the year that give you, the student, hands on experience of developing and running large scale events. The organization also fosters professional development by giving students the opportunity to attended workshops and conferences.
ProRec will have regularly scheduled bi-monthly meetings.
If you are interested in joining Pro-Rec or have any questions please contact D.J. Preston at dp1199@txstate.edu.

Not only did ProRec put on two successful sporting events and one smoothie sale, the group truly excelled in professional development opportunities. This past year ProRec put in a lot of effort in order to help the organization grow and better accomplish our goals. We raised enough funds to send 16 student members to SFA in Nacogdoches, TX to attend the NIRSA Region IV Student Lead-On, where 9 of members presented on various campus recreation topics. We also implemented an undergraduate scholarship that covers the cost of registration for NIRSA Annual Conference, awarded to Max Mello who accepted the Graduate Assistantship with Sport Clubs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2008-2009, we hope to increase the success of the Family Weekend Golf Tournament and Homecoming 5K, host a spring sporting event, and continue to grow the undergraduate student membership.
We would love to hear from you to keep track of how Texas State has helped you excel as a professional so ProRec can continue to develop leaders within the field.
