Fencing

The Texas State Fencing Club is the oldest active sports club on campus. Since 1975 we have produced regionally and nationally ranked competitive fencers, and have an active and supportive alumni base. Our club is unique in that we actually create fencers who have no prior experience, something extremely rare in collegiate fencing. We have experienced rated fencers in all three weapons of modern fencing epee, foil, and sabre. Most of our fencers compete in USFA (United States Fencing Association), and host fencing tournaments that have often proved to be the largest in the southwest region. We also compete in the collegiate SWIFA(Southwest Intercollegiate Fencing Association) conference with other universities such as Baylor, A&M and UT. Our fencers have earned numerous USFA letter rankings (awarded A-E) and have made us a recognizable and respected name in the fencing community, our fencers and alumni who have earned rankings and distinctions while in the university include; William Cisler-A2009 epee, E2009 sabre (3rd place National Open Circuit 2009) Dean Lantrip-A2009 epee ( 8th place #3 National Open Cicuit 2009, 2nd place Southwest National Qualifiers 2011) Kevin Beahan-C2011 epee (8th place in 2009 div II USFA National Championships) Wyatt Constantine-D2011 epee (TSFC president for 2+ years, current epee coach) Beau Hulgan-D2011 epee Sam Bagot-E2011 epee Travis Overton- C2008 (1st place Bobcat Open 2010 mixed saber.)
