How To Start A New Club

Want to start your own club? It may not be as hard as you think.

Any student organization can request membership into the Sport Clubs Program through the Sport Clubs Alliance. All documents must be on file with the Sport Clubs Office at least 30 days prior to scheduled Alliance meeting. The Alliance meets twice a semester during the academic year.

Before submitting a petition, the club must have registered as a Student Organization with the Campus Activities and Student Organizations Office by providing the Sport Clubs Office with the following documents listed.

            1.  Registration Form
            2.  Advisor’s Contract
            3.  Diversity Statement
            4.  Hazing Statement
            6.  A current copy of the club’s constitution and by-laws
            7.  A club roster with a minimum of 10 students
            8.  A petition letter describing club interest, club contribution to the wellness of students and diversity the club will bring to the Sport Clubs Program.

The materials needed in preparation for making a presentation with the Sport Clubs Alliance to discuss membership include:

             1.  Letter of request
            2.  Calendar of competitions, meeting, fundraisers, etc.
            3.  Proposed budget for one academic year (fall and spring)

For information on getting started, please contact the Sport Clubs Office at  (512) 245-1791.
