Trip Staff Training Program
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, no Adventure Trip programming is being made available at this time. Trip Leader development opportunities are currently being organized, and information will be posted as soon as they can be safely offered.

The Trip Staff Training Program (TSTP) is an opportunity open to all Texas State students, faculty, and staff members offered every semester.
TSTP focuses on providing outdoor education and the instructor development opportunities for anyone interested in working in outdoor recreation and education. The Essentials Workshops provide insight to the rich history and key philosophies important to understanding your role as an outdoor leader, about how groups work together (or not) and how people learn, and about the role of risk in our programs and how we address adverse situations in adverse settings. Workshops include:
- Introduction to ATP and History, Philosophy & Roles in Outdoor Education
- Risk Management in the Wilderness Setting
- Group Dynamics
- Trip Planning
There are also additional Outdoor Clinics held each semester for students interested in becoming an Outdoor Trip Leader, or learning new skills.
Whether you want to be Outdoor Recreation staff member, work for camps or other adventure programs, or just to enhance your personal pursuits, the TSTP series has something for everyone.
